Orissa and Bihar secured nine points each from their three-day East Zone Ranji Trophy match, which ended in a draw on the last day at Metallurgical and Engineering Consultant Limited Sail Stadium in Ranchi today. Orissa pace bowler Harmohan Praharaj and allrounder Asjit Jayaprakasham put up impressive performance, bagging a total of 10 wickets and scoring an unbeaten century.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Bihar declared their first innings at 307 for six. In reply, Orissa also declared at 304 for six. While Jayaprakasham remained unbeaten on 102, captain Somnath Sahoo slammed a stroke-filled 71.
In the second innings, Bihar were all out for 293, while Orissa reached 59 for one at stumps on the final day. Praharaj captured four wickets in the first innings and six in the second. Orissa players Abinasha Khatua, Swapan Mitra, A Panda and Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra made First-Class debut in this match.
